Mavis Staples
At the beginning of her eighth decade of singing truth, Mavis Staples has delivered If All I Was Was Black (ANTI- Records), ten songs about America today, where the present is filled with ghosts of the past. If All I Was Was Black represents Mavis' third collaboration with songwriter and producer (and Wilco frontman) Jeff Tweedy. Their first partnership in 2010, You Are Not Alone, won a Grammy Award for Best Americana album. But If All I Was Was Black marks the first time Tweedy has composed an entire album of original songs for Mavis' legendary voice and a nation she's uniquely poised to address.

James Harman
James Harman was born and raised in Anniston, Al. where he quickly picked up on the black blues and soul music being played on juke boxes and the radio in the Deep South. In Harman's teens, he started playing juke joints and dance clubs throughout the South in the early 1960's, recording many 45s for obscure labels. In 1968 Harman was befriended by the members of Canned Heat who persuaded him to move to California saying they would help him get re-started. Harman made the move to Southern California in 1970. Once established he was in demand for his own shows as well as backing every living blues artist who came through the area without a band and open for all the ones who did. Some alumni include Phil Alvin and Bill Bateman who left in '78 to form The Blasters, Jeff Turmes, Stephen Hodges, Kid Ramos and Hollywood Fats who all had long stints in The James Harman Band. Harman is often cited as a bandleader who gave many now famous bluesmen their start. Harman has had his original songs used in 20 movies and has been nominated for 20 prestigious W. C. Handy awards. He won two Blues Music Awards for his contribution to Mark Hummel's Blind Pig Little Walter tribute album, "Remembering Little Walter" he also received a Grammy nomination for the same project. He played harmonica on the last seven ZZ Top releases, as well as performing live with that famous Texas outfit. James Harman has had 32 releases since his recording debut in 1964; he is a one of a kind showman, vocalist, songwriter, harp player and in the words of his pal Mark Hummel, a comic genius! He tours every spring, summer and fall in 29 countries. His current release is "BONETIME" on Toronto's Electro-Fi Records label; it went on the Living Blues radio chart at #2 and by the next week, it was #1. James Harman and "BONETIME" garnered an unprecedented FIVE Blues Music Award nominations for this year. James Harman's Bamboo Porch Revue, featuring his longtime guitar player Nathan James and world famous percussionist Mike Tempo, will be on tour this summer and performing at a venue or festival near you… don't miss this show! Buy a copy of "BONETIME" and have a great summer.

Alex Nester
In an industry saturated with fly-by-night singles, auto-tune madness, and packaged artist-development, Alex refuses to conform and instead brings back the musicians to the art of music-making. Her music can only be described as a Hell-hath-no-fury collection of original music chronicling her trials and letdowns with the state of music business today. But the industry is not the only factor surrounding the creation of this musical tour-de-force.
