UCLA Marathon Reading Event

DESCRIPTION
The UCLA Marathon Reading is an annual event that brings together the Department of English, the campus, and the wider Los Angeles community to celebrate great works of literature spoken aloud.

This year we will work our way through three important dystopian texts, Margaret Atwood's Handmaid's Tale and Octavia Butler's Earthseed series.

Hundreds of volunteers take turns, relay-style, to recite an entire novel in a 24-hour stretch. The audience is free to join or leave at any point in the performance. The reading is free but donations are appreciated. Funds raised for the event go to support research fellowships for graduate and undergraduate students at UCLA.

Email marathon@english.ucla.edu for more information or to ask about free parking!
